(ABOUT THE FILM)
A House in Winter is a family drama shaped by the stillness of the Yorkshire countryside and the quiet tension of a home filled with memories. Jonah Reed uses the changing winter light, weathered interiors, and ordinary domestic rituals to explore grief without sentimentality. Its measured pace gives the smallest moments room to breathe, revealing how family histories are preserved in objects, rooms, and the things people choose not to say. At its heart, the film asks what we inherit beyond the things we can own.
(STORY)
After their father's death, three siblings return to the farmhouse where they grew up to clear it before the end of winter. Anna wants to sell the property and begin again, Michael believes it should remain in the family, and Rose is reluctant to make any decision at all. As they sort through cupboards, repair forgotten things, and uncover letters that were never sent, familiar disagreements reveal deeper questions about responsibility, resentment, and who was expected to stay. The longer they remain in the house, the harder it becomes to separate the place itself from the lives they once shared there.
